Introducing Contemplating Scripture
What this publication is about, and what to expect.
Welcome to Contemplating Scripture
Hello! My name is Adebayo Opesanya, and I’m glad you’re here.
I serve as a pastor and Bible teacher, and over time I’ve grown increasingly convinced that one of the most important things I can do is help people engage Scripture with greater depth, clarity, and faithfulness.
I started Contemplating Scripture to create space for that kind of engagement—a place where we can slow down, pay attention to the text, and reflect on what it means for our lives and our communities.
Why “Contemplating Scripture”?
The name reflects the posture I hope to bring to this space: not hurried, not shallow, not driven by hot takes or easy answers—but thoughtful, honest, and rooted.
I believe Scripture tells a coherent story, one that is both deeply theological and profoundly pastoral. It speaks of God’s covenant faithfulness, his redemptive purposes, and his purpose for creation. My aim is to trace that story, piece by piece, in a way that serves your understanding and strengthens your faith.
What to Expect
Most posts will grow out of my sermon preparation, personal study or classroom teaching notes. You can expect:
Reflections on concepts in Scripture
Biblical-theological themes that span across Old and New Testaments
Clarifications of often-misunderstood texts
Observations that help us read more faithfully and contextually
I’m not writing as a scholar, but as a pastor committed to careful reading, sound theology, and spiritual formation. My tone will be reflective, occasionally challenging, but always with the goal of encouraging faithfulness to Christ and his Word.
